Question :

Don t these symptoms seem to be the cause of religious beliefs and religions?

Symptoms of Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is characterized by profound disruption in cognition and emotion, affecting the most fundamental human attributes: language, thought, perception, affect, and sense of self. The array of symptoms, while wide ranging, frequently includes psychotic manifestations, such as hearing internal voices or experiencing other sensations not connected to an obvious source (hallucinations) and assigning unusual significance or meaning to normal events or holding fixed false personal beliefs (delusions). No single symptom is definitive for diagnosis; rather, the diagnosis encompasses a pattern of signs and symptoms, in conjunction with impaired occupational or social functioning
Answer :
No, it s pattern recognition, a sensory skill that enabled early humans to spot danger or opportunity in the weeds and bushes. But once established, you can t turn it off. Numerous false positives convinced ancient humans that there was conscious agency behind thunderstorms, earthquakes and floods. So humans began trying to communicate their needs to these primitive "gods" through rituals of sympathetic magic, or bargain with them by sacrificing things. The gods multiplied to handle new human needs, but the communication methods changed little over the next several thousands of years. And as long as the world appears to be out to get you, religion will thrive.
Question :

Treatment for Schizophrenia?

Upon self-diagnosis I found out a couple of days ago that I am Schizophrenic. I seriously must have matched around 20 signs and symptoms from the site that I found, and it gave me answers to things that I never understood such as Depersonalization disorder. (I ve had it half of my life but didn t know there was an actual diagnosis for it.)

The only treatments that I have been able to find for it are prescription drugs. I am unwilling to take them because of the severe weight gain that they cause. So does anyone have any other suggestions, be it natural treatments, certain types of therapy, anything that may help?
Answer :
Only a psychiatrist can properly diagnose you, once diagnosed they will either give you medication or give you weekly appointments to help if you don t want to take medication. Do research online about natural healing. I m sure something will come up.
Question :

Can pure reason generate truth?

I am not talking about "truth" as used by highschool level self appointed intellectuals or "aspiring philosophers". Maybe some of u can remember the following kinda answers to "What is truth" ie. "truth is beauty" or "truth is the substance of being..." Man this was potent answers for a lot of college kids "passing the pipe around" in the 60s. I"m talkin bout the kinda answers to questions like "what is the cause of schizophrenia?" "what psychotherapy treatment methods best help a person to overcome dysthymia?" "are all mental disorder the result of our experiences or brain problems." "what are the yet unknow early indicators for the causes of the dementias?" What about cures? How can we better diagnosis and differentiale the types of neurological problems so we can find better and earlier signs and symptoms.........
Answer :
IMO reason alone will point people in the general direction of truth..... but it requires action to test that which reason brought. It aslo requires a bit of luck sometimes to stumble on the answer.

I think luck is way more important then people realize.
